Christa Chadwick

Christa Chadwick, CAWA, is the ASPCA’s Vice President, Shelter Services, responsible for leading and ensuring continuity in programming across the ASPCA’s national work with animal welfare organizations, and the ASPCA’s New York City-based work in sheltering. In this role, Christa leads the national Shelter Outreach team, which includes Relocation – transporting more than 40,000 animals annually across multiple routes; Shelter Medicine Services – providing leadership and expertise to shelters across the country; and the Northern Tier Shelter Initiative – identifying and addressing the risks facing homeless pets in communities throughout seven designated states. Additionally, Christa provides oversight of the ASPCA’s Adoption Center and Kitten Nursery in NYC, which cares for and places over 5,000 animals annually.

Prior to moving into this role, Christa served as the ASPCA’s Senior Director of Strategy and Culture where she led the initial work to discover the ASPCA’s Core Values, and she helped guide the launch of the organization’s Theory Of Change. From 2011 to 2015, Christa served as Senior Director of the Shelter Research & Development Team where her critical projects included the development of the Comprehensive Animal Risk Data System (CARDS), as well as managing and leading the team responsible for the intensive data tracking and mining that supported both the ASPCA Partnership Program and the ASPCA’s $100K Challenge.

Before her career with the ASPCA, Christa established herself as an important leader in animal welfare through a distinguished track record in Canada that culminated with the role of Director, Animal Care for the Ontario SPCA. There, Christa provided leadership and support to more than 50 animal welfare organizations in the province, as well as direct supervision to 17 Ontario SPCA-operated facilities, including 2 high-volume spay/neuter clinics and a wildlife rehabilitation facility.
