Thomas G. Goodwin

Thomas G. Goodwin is president of Thomas Goodwin Communications, Inc. Over a 30-year career, Tom has combined his experiences as a consultant (agency-side and independent practice), client (hiring and managing agencies and consultants), and journalist. He is a veteran of three public relations agencies. As senior vice president at Porter Novelli (1995 – 2000), he created the firm’s first-ever public affairs practice and later launched an agency-wide practice devoted to strategic messaging. For five years (1991-1995) Tom was a vice president at the public affairs firm, Powell Tate. He also was an executive vice president with The Hawthorn Group (2000-2001), a public affairs firm in Alexandria, Va. Over the course of his career, Tom was the chief spokesman for a trade association of investor-owned hospitals, a lobbyist for a group of generic pharmaceutical manufacturers, and a congressional press secretary. A trade journalist he was also an accredited White House Correspondent.
