Sanj Srikanthan

Sanj Srikanthan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Sanj currently serves as the Chair at Start Network since July 2021. Prior to this, they were the Chief Executive Officer at ShelterBox from December 2019. In 2022, they became the Vice Chair at NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Earlier in their career, Sanj Srikanthan held multiple positions at the International Rescue Committee, including Senior Vice President & Executive Director for Europe, Vice President & Deputy Executive Director for Europe, Director of Policy & Practice, Emergency Field Director, Regional Security Advisor, and Security Advisor. Sanj played a significant role in leading humanitarian efforts and establishing new offices in different countries. Before their involvement in the humanitarian sector, Sanj Srikanthan served as a Captain in the British Army, where they acted as a Troop Leader & Squadron Second in Command, contributing to peacekeeping operations and receiving specialized media officer training.

Sanj Srikanthan began their education journey by completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Modern History at The University of Manchester from 1998 to 2001. Sanj then pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a focus on Public Policy at Sciences Po from 2008 to 2009. Following this, they furthered their studies by obtaining another MPA degree specializing in Economic and Political Post Conflict Development from Columbia | SIPA between 2009 and 2010.
