Shailesh (Sonny) Modi has a strong and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Shailesh (Sonny) began their career in 1986 as a Staff Accountant at Deloitte, where they worked their way up to become a Senior Audit Manager. During their time at Deloitte, they led audit engagements and played a key role in insurance industry Initial Public Offerings.
In 1996, Sonny joined Chubb Insurance as a Manager of Financial Reporting, before moving on to New York Life Insurance Company in 1999. At New York Life, they held the positions of Manager of International Accounting and Assistant Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis. In these roles, they were responsible for overseeing various financial operations, including the conversion of geographical locations to US GAAP basis and M&A activities.
In 2004, Sonny joined SCOR as the Controller of US Operations, before moving to AIG in 2006. At AIG, they held various roles, including Divisional CFO of Risk Finance, Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, and Director of Enterprise Risk Management. In their role as Divisional CFO, they were responsible for the global financial operations of the Risk Finance Profit Center.
In 2014, Sonny joined Aspen Insurance Holdings as the SVP of Global Strategic Planning & Analysis, and in 2015, they joined ShelterPoint Life as the SVP of Finance. Shailesh (Sonny) was later promoted to the role of Chief Financial Officer.
Throughout their career, Sonny has demonstrated strong financial expertise and leadership skills. Shailesh (Sonny) has extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, risk management, strategic planning, and operational management. Shailesh (Sonny) has also worked with senior management, regulators, rating agencies, and the Federal Reserve of NY in presenting complex transactions.
Shailesh (Sonny) Modi's education history begins in 1977 when they obtained their high school diploma from John Bowne. Moving forward, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting and Business/Management from New York University, which they completed in 1984. Additionally, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from New York University, specializing in Finance and Computer Applications and Information Systems, which they received in 1987.
