Marshall DeMeritt, MS, serves as Managing Director at Synergy since December 2018, with previous roles including Director of Strategic Delivery and Senior Program Manager. Involved with the Shepherd University Alumni Association since June 2022 as a board member, Marshall has also held various leadership positions at Shepherdstown Fire Department, Inc. since April 2007, including Captain and Chief of EMS, focusing on emergency response and patient care. Marshall's background includes project management experience at DMI, where eight concurrent projects benefited over 48,000 Coast Guard personnel. Previous roles in operations and marketing at Fargo Insurance Group and as a Principal Consultant for Emergency Resources Network further enhance Marshall’s diverse skill set. Marshall earned a B.S. in Communications, Marketing from Shepherd University and an MS in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University, along with a Graduate Certificate in Applied Project Management from Villanova University.

For over 225 years the highly trained volunteers of the Shepherdstown Fire Department have answered the call of community service. Each year the amount of training increases, the call volume increases, and the amount of money needed to fund the organization increases. Yet, these dedicated volunteers continue to do whatever they can to meet our creed: “To Provide Our Best Possible Service, on Our Customers Worse Day.”
