Steven McKenna

Steven McKenna has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Steven began their career as a professional rugby player for Connacht Rugby while in college. McKenna then worked as an Assistant Accountant at Ionics Ireland and later as a Senior Associate at EY, where they gained expertise in various industries. Steven went on to work as a Group Financial Accountant at Albion Property Holdings Limited and as an Executive Accountant at Macquarie Group. In 2008, McKenna joined Sherry FitzGerald as a Financial Controller, navigating the company through Ireland's property crash and helping it grow. Steven was later promoted to Group Financial Controller - Associate Director and played a key role in the successful sale of the company's UK Residential Sales & Lettings business. In 2012, McKenna became the Chief Financial Officer of Sherry FitzGerald, supporting the company's growth strategy and overseeing successful acquisitions. Steven was appointed as the Chief Executive of Sherry FitzGerald in 2017, leading the acquisition of three businesses and delivering significant shareholder value through the sale of the international commercial business. McKenna has also held roles as a Guest Speaker at Trinity College Dublin, a Finance Officer at YPO, and as the Advisory Council Chairman and Board Member at the Irish Management Institute.

Steven McKenna has a diverse education history. In 1990, they completed their Leaving Certificate at St. Joseph's College in Galway, where they focused on Business Studies. From 1996 to 2000, they attended Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology and earned a BBS degree in Business Studies. In 2001, they furthered their education at ACCA and became a Chartered Certified Accountant. Continuing their academic pursuits, from 2013 to 2016, they pursued a Masters in Business Practice at University College Cork. During this time, they also obtained a Diploma in Corporate Finance from Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2014. In 2015, they earned a Diploma in Leadership from the Irish Management Institute, and in 2016, they completed a Diploma in Strategy & Innovation from the same institute. Lastly, in 2018, they received a Certificate in High Performance Leadership from IMD.
