E. Egon Rinderer is currently the CTO at Shift5. E. was previously the Global VP of Technology & President, Tanium Federal from February 2014 to May 2021. Prior to that, they were the Chief Technical Liaison - Intelligence Community at Intel Corporation from January 2013 to February 2014. 

Rinderer has also held positions as the Technical Executive - NGA IT/IS Program at NJVC-LLC from June 2008 to January 2013, Technology Manager at [SAIC](/org/saic) from January 2005 to June 2008, and Operator - CTNC at US Navy from July 2003 to June 2011. 

E. has also been a founder or senior partner at various companies including Premier Networks from January 1999 to December 2005 and Gateway EDI from January 1996 to December 1999. 

Rinderer started their career as a Technology Consultant at [Graybar](/org/graybar) from January 1993 to December 1996 and then moved on to Forsythe Technology as a Technology Support Analyst from January 1992 to December 1993.

E. Egon Rinderer dropped out of [Bradley University](/org/bradley-university) and received certification from (ISC)2 in CISSP.

Their manager is Josh Lospinoso, CEO & Co-Founder. They work with Mitch Plonski - VP, Operations, Joe Lea - President, and Ralph Kahn - Chief Revenue Officer. A direct report to E. Egon Rinderer is and André Browne - Director of Engineering.

Ralph Kahn has more than 30 years experience in the technology industry.  He has held positions in systems engineering, product management, professional services, sales, sales management, and business management.  Mr. Kahn is a proven business developer and sales leader developing the strategy and building the teams to grow multiple businesses from zero to over $100M in ARR in just a few years (most recently at [Tanium](/org/tanium)).  He has extensive experience in various areas of technology with the last 15 years exclusively in cybersecurity.  He is a recognized thought leader in cybersecurity and a resource for key government and industry executives. He is regularly invited to share his knowledge around the globe at top security conferences and in the media.

Ralph Kahn

Alexander Gates is the current Chief Research Officer at Shift5. Alexander was previously with the company as a research analyst.

Alexander Gates has a Master of Science in Information Technology from The Johns Hopkins University.

Their manager is Josh Lospinoso, CEO & Co-Founder. Alexander Gates works with Joe Lea - President, Ralph Kahn - Chief Revenue Officer, and Matt MacKinnon - Chief Product Officer.

Mitch Plonski is the head of operations at Shift5. Mitch is responsible for building and scaling processes and teams across the company to meet our growth. He also leads many of our key federal relationships and focuses on scaling Shift5 products across the U.S. Government. Prior to Shift5, he was assigned to the [Office of the Director of National Intelligence](/org/office-of-the-director-of-national-intelligence), where he served in numerous operations and management roles, including the executive officer to the deputy director of national intelligence for strategy and engagement and special events intelligence coordinator, where he led the planning, coordination, and execution of U.S. Intelligence Community support to International and Domestic Special Security Events.

Mitch served on the U.S. State Department’s International Special Events Group Executive Board and chaired the Intelligence Subcommittee that was responsible for coordinating the U.S. Government’s overall intelligence and security posture for international special events. Mitch also served as a Senior Duty Officer in the White House Situation Room and the Executive Assistant to the National Counterterrorism Center, Deputy Director.

Prior to his federal civilian service, Mitch served in the Army as a non-commissioned officer and all-source intelligence analyst. He holds an MA from [Johns Hopkins University](/org/johns-hopkins-university) and a BA from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Other than defending operational technology (OT) from cyberattack, his superpower is patience.



Mitch Plonski

With his 20+ years of experience building, deploying and maintaining applications, André has developed enterprise grade software for a wide array of industries including Telecom, Data Privacy, Robotics, Automation, Retail, Logistics, Insurance, Power, Space, Aviation and more. He joins Shift5 from VMware Tanzu Labs where he anchored multiple Digital Transformation teams. There he worked with [FedEx](/org/fedex), [The Home Depot](/org/the-home-depot), Dicks Sporting Goods, USAF, Section 31, [Great American Insurance Group](/org/great-american-insurance-group), GE Power and others as they ventured to modernize their approaches to software development. Having formerly worked for multiple startups his work in new and emerging technology spaces has resulted in 20+ patents assignments, and counting.

André Browne

Matt has held a wide variety of global leadership roles throughout his career, encompassing many aspects of building and delivering world-class software to the Global 2000. Most recently, he led teams at Armis focused on strategic alliances and Federal product management. Matt joins Shift5 as Chief Product Officer where he will lead Product and Engineering to secure and manage fleets of the world's most critical assets, while also making sure to have some fun along the way.

Matt MacKinnon

Michael Weigand is co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Shift5. He is responsible for defining and overseeing execution of Shift5’s long-term growth objectives. Prior to Shift5, Michael served eight years in the US Army as an Airborne, Ranger qualified, Infantry officer and was selected as one of the first Cyber operations officers. While at a Department of Defense support agency, he served as an engineering and operations officer conducting both applied research and development (R&D), development, and field operations. Michael has established and commanded multiple cyber organizations and skunkworks-style teams across the Army and DoD. Notably, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Army’s platform mission assurance program, the Army’s expeditionary cyber forces, the Army’s first cyber capability development unit, and multiple high-profile projects in conjunction with the [Defense Digital Service](/org/defense-digital-service). Michael holds a BS in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy. Other than defending OT, Michael’s secret superpower is flying small airplanes into small places.



Michael Weigand

Joe has held numerous technical and executive roles during his career, most recently leading Product from an early stage at Armis and [Tanium](/org/tanium), both high flying startups and Forbes Cloud 100 standouts, where he built the teams and operating models that spawned portfolios of offerings spanning the fields of security and systems management. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Science which has informed his perspective on technology and led to numerous patents and award winning product deliveries. 

Joe is joining the executive team as President working out of the Shift5 Headquarters in Rosslyn VA, where his focus and passion will be on building a world class team and scaling Shift5 as a Product company that dominates the markets around securing and managing fleets of the world’s most critical assets.

When he’s not busy at work or spending time with his family, Joe speaks about his experience competing in some of the world’s most grueling 100 mile mountain ultra-marathons, which he argues are not so different from high tech startups.

Josh Lospinoso is the co-founder/CEO of Shift5. Josh is an entrepreneur with deep expertise in cybersecurity, data science, and system software engineering. Prior to Shift5, he co-founded RedOwl Analytics, an insider threat detection platform acquired by Raytheon/Forcepoint in 2017. Additionally, he served 10 years as a cyber officer leading teams to build dozens of elite hacking tools for the [National Security Agency](/org/national-security-agency)’s Tailored Access Operations, Army Cyber Command, and the Cyber National Mission Force.

Josh is also the author of C++ Crash Course (No Starch Press, 2019), dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles spanning multiple disciplines, and multiple patents. Josh earned a BS in Economics and Operations Research from the United States Military Academy and a Ph.D in Statistics from the [University of Oxford](/org/university-of-oxford), where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Other than defending operational technology (OT) from cyberattack, Josh’s secret superpower is that he can read his own mind.
