Van Dang-O'Callaghan

Van Dang-O'Callaghan has a diverse range of work experience in the fashion industry. They are currently working as a Product Development Manager at Shinola starting from January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Producer and Art Director at Bear Bulb, Inc. starting from August 2020. They also have experience as an Adjunct Instructor at the College for Creative Studies from January 2022 to August 2022.

In the past, Van worked at The Sample Room as a Project/Product Development Manager for Handbags & SLGs from May 2019 to August 2020. They were responsible for managing the WIP Calendar and Timeline, providing design and development consultation, and implementing strategies to improve workflow and efficiency.

Before that, they worked at Calvin Klein as a Senior Atelier Coordinator for 205W39NYC from January 2015 to March 2019. In this role, they supported the Atelier Manager in day-to-day operations, managed the workflow of pattern makers and sample sewers, and monitored time/action calendars for press and sales teams.

Prior to Calvin Klein, Van worked at Reem Acra as a Design and Sample Room Coordinator from May 2014 to November 2014. They worked directly with the Head Designer and design team to create evening, bridal, and ready-to-wear collections, supervised the work of design assistants, patternmakers, and seamstresses, and ensured quality standards and deadlines were met.

Van also has experience as a Freelance Assistant Designer at ADEAM International from December 2013 to May 2014, where they collaborated with the design team to develop seasonal collections and created tech packs for outside contractors.

They worked as an Assistant Designer at Elizabeth Kennedy LLC from January 2013 to May 2014. In this role, they worked directly with the head designer to develop custom evening, bridal, and special occasion gowns/dresses, assisted with fittings at Bergdorf Goodman, managed budgets and timelines, and reported to the company President.

Van started their career as a Production Assistant at Human B - Fashion business consulting from September 2012 to May 2013. They assisted the production manager with production for various clients, conducted quality checks at factories, and had client consultations.

Prior to that, Van was a Design Intern at J.Cheikh from January 2011 to September 2011. In this role, they conducted research for upcoming seasons, assisted with fittings, and participated in model casting for shows and photo shoots.

Van Dang-O'Callaghan obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design from the International Academy of Design and Technology-Chicago, where they studied from 2008 to 2011.
