Dale Speetjens has a diverse work experience, beginning with a role as a Multi-Channel Systems Operator and Maintainer in the US Army from 2000 to 2012. In 2012, they began working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Auburn University, where they examined the current state of the waste management system in Alabama and developed several recommendations for the State of Alabama and ADEM. In 2015, they took on the role of Assistant Project Manager for the Bloomberg Innovation Team, adding capacity to city government by looking at old problems in new ways. In 2016, they were a Visiting Adjunct Assistant Professor at Auburn University and a Visiting Professor at Galapagos International Architecture Studio. Dale also founded Shipshape Urban Farms (SUF) in 2016, where they serve as President and CEO. SUF designs and manufactures modular, hydroponic farms that make fresh vegetables accessible in urban markets year-round.
Dale Speetjens obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from Auburn University in 2012, followed by a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning in 2015 and a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture also in 2015 from Auburn University.
