Shire of East Pilbara
The Shire of East Pilbara is a diverse community thriving in a vast rural landscape of economic opportunity, magnificent beauty, rich heritage and culture. The Shire is a place for all people to live harmoniously – providing a feeling of inclusion, appreciation, and access to community services across our region. The natural landscape offers breathtaking views from Carawine Gorge, Cape Keraudren on the coast, countless waterholes, Karlamilyi National Park, the desert sands of both the Great Sandy and Gibson Deserts. Newman offers a gateway to Karijini National Park and the Canning Stock Route. Mining within the Shire produces half of Western Australia’s iron ore. The total value of commodities mined in 2020 was over $57.6 billion - over 20% of the annual resource and energy exports market, making the area significant to State and National GDP.
