Tom Degear

Tom DeGear has extensive work experience in various roles, primarily in systems administration and information technology. Tom is currently serving as the Director of Information Technology at ShopCore Properties, where they have been employed since December 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Systems Administrator at ShopCore Properties from May 2020 to December 2021. Before joining ShopCore Properties, Tom served as a Systems Administrator at Mac Properties from January 2019 to May 2020, where they were responsible for administering a customized Salesforce instance for multi-family tenant property management. Tom also handled web development and administration tasks for the Salesforce Community portal.

From February 2017 to January 2019, Tom worked as a Systems Administrator - SalesOps at Cardinal Intellectual Property, where they were involved in the administration and auditing of the company's Salesforce CRM system. Tom also played a key role in re-architecting the CRM due to migration issues. Prior to this, they were a Sales Operations Specialist at Outcome Health from June 2016 to February 2017, where they utilized Salesforce, Tableau, Excel, and R for reporting and analysis. Tom implemented data analysis of call data and the opportunity pipeline to establish new key performance indicators.

Tom also has experience outside the technology field. From August 2013 to January 2016, they worked as a Mathematics Tutor at City Colleges of Chicago, where they taught foundational math up to Calculus 3 and implemented workshops and placement test reviews. Tom was also an embedded tutor in remedial classes, significantly increasing student success rates. Before that, they worked as a Lead Guide at Wingate Wilderness Therapy from April 2010 to October 2011, coaching at-risk youth in a wilderness camp and conducting group therapy sessions.

Tom's earliest work experience was at Passages To Recovery, where they served as a Lead Guide from April 2007 to April 2010. In this role, they managed staff and clients during extended wilderness trips, providing holistic therapeutic interventions and teaching survival and communication skills to individuals with addiction issues.

Tom DeGear has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Northeastern Illinois University. Tom also holds an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics from City Colleges of Chicago-Harold Washington College. In terms of additional certifications, Tom obtained the VTS Fundamentals Certification from VTS in June 2021. Prior to that, they obtained several certifications from LinkedIn, including "Become a GDPR and Data Privacy Expert," "Programming Foundations: Open-Source Licensing," "Setting Up Your Small Business as a Legal Entity," "Understanding Copyright: A Deeper Dive," "Understanding Intellectual Property," "Understanding Patents: A Deeper Dive," "Understanding Trade Secrets: A Deeper Dive," and "Understanding Trademarks: A Deeper Dive," all in March 2018.
