Shoreline Sightseeing
Joe Janes is an experienced professional in the fields of education, writing, and performance. Currently serving as a docent at Shoreline Sightseeing since April 2023, Joe leads architecture river tours in Chicago. At Columbia College Chicago, Joe has been an adjunct faculty member and Improv Program Coordinator since June 2004, teaching various improv and comedy classes. Joe's extensive experience includes supporting the Columbia College's Improv Club as a faculty adviser, teaching ESL to students in China with VIPKid, and serving as faculty at the Second City Training Center. Additional notable roles include senior writer at Fig Media Inc. and Jellyvision, founding member of the WNEP Theater Foundation, and playwright for Zoo District. Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Columbia College Chicago.

Shoreline Sightseeing is Chicago's favorite tour boat company. Shoreline began with one vessel offering Lake Michigan Boat Tours showcasing Chicago’s fabulous skyline. In 1996, Shoreline brought the first Water Taxis to Chicago. In 1999, we began our very successful Architecture Tours on the Chicago River. Between 1999 and 2003 Shoreline commissioned three brand new vessels for its touring fleet: Star of Chicago, Evening Star, and Bright Star. Shoreline recently added three more custom outfitted vessels: Riverview in 2013, Cityview in 2014, Skyview in 2015.
