Charlie Knust has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as a Fire/EMS Dispatcher at North County Dispatch JPA in 1997. Charlie then moved up to become an IT Applications Specialist and later a Communications Manager within the same organization. In 2012, they joined TriTech Software Systems, initially as a Solutions Strategist, and later held roles as Implementation Services Manager and Director of Implementation Services. Following this, they transitioned to CentralSquare Technologies in 2018, where they served as a Sr. Manager of Implementation Services and later as a Principal Solutions Architect. Most recently, in 2021, they joined SoundThinking (formerly ShotSpotter), first as a Sr. Director of Customer Support and currently holds the position of Vice President Support and Training.

Charlie Knust attended Palomar College from 1991 to 1997, where they obtained three Associate of Arts degrees in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician, Fire Science/Fire-fighting, and General Studies. Additionally, they obtained a certification as an Emergency Number Professional (ENP) from NENA: The 9-1-1 Association.
