Michael Lester has extensive experience in the field of digital signal processing and audio technology. Michael started their career at Weeks Recording Studio as the Chief Maintenance Engineer from August 2001 to May 2005. Michael then worked as a DSP Development Intern at Shure, Inc. in 2005 and 2006. Following that, they served as a Teaching Assistant for Multimedia Applications at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis from August 2006 to December 2006.
In 2007, Michael joined LSB Audio, LLC as a Co-founder and consultant, where they specialized in the development of custom audio signal processing algorithms. Michael co-owned Big Mountain Adventure from August 2010 to June 2015.
Michael's career at Shure Incorporated began in 2007, where they held various roles and steadily progressed. Michael served as a DSP Development Engineer II from January 2007 to June 2008, followed by the role of Senior DSP Engineer in the Digital Audio Processing Group from June 2008 to June 2012. From July 2012 to January 2015, they worked as a Project Engineer, leading DSP and audio-related projects.
In January 2016, Michael became the Managing DSP Staff Engineer, responsible for managing a group of DSP engineers and overseeing technology initiatives and corporate projects. Michael continued to progress within the organization, serving as Senior Manager of the DSP Department from June 2017 to June 2018, Associate Director of the DSP Department from June 2018 to September 2021, and finally as Director of DSP Technology, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence from June 2021 to the present. In these roles, Michael directed research, development, and innovation in machine learning, AI, and DSP for audio, video, and other modalities. Michael also led multiple concurrent projects and provided oversight for related innovation initiatives.
Michael Lester obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Engineering from the University of Miami in 2005. Michael later pursued a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on DSP with Audio emphasis at Purdue University from 2005 to 2007.
