Michael Close

Michael Close serves as the Senior Manager of R&D Laboratories at Shurtape Technologies, LLC, focusing on product development and managing laboratories to support corporate initiatives since December 2023. Previously, Michael held various positions at Cormetech from 2002 to 2023, including Development Project Manager, where a robotic assembly process was implemented to streamline operations, achieving a reduction in labor costs. Earlier roles included Senior Scientist-Product and Process Development and Manager of Analytical Development and Technology, contributing to significant cost savings and advancements in catalyst technology. Prior experiences include managing analytical and research laboratories at Dyno Nobel, developing novel methods for explosives testing, and conducting post-doctoral research at West Virginia University. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Iowa State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Weber State University.
