Varun Thakur

Varun Thakur has a diverse work experience in various companies. Varun currently works at SI Group, where they hold the positions of Market Development Director - Polyolefins & Compounding and Global TS&D Director, Polymer Solutions. Prior to SI Group, they worked at Dow as an EMEA Application Technology Leader in the Automotive sector. Their earlier experience includes working at Lapp Engineering & Co. as a Global Project Manager in the Automotive & Construction field. In this role, they were responsible for global R&D project coordination, product and process development, and collaboration with research institutes. Varun also played a key role in developing technologies and compounding concepts for various applications.

Varun Thakur holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Polymer/Plastics Engineering from the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden, completed from 2008 to 2011. Earlier, they earned a Master of Technology (MTech) degree in Rubber Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, from 2006 to 2008. Varun also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Organic Chemistry from Delhi University, acquired from 2004 to 2006. Lastly, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry from Delhi University from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, Varun has a certification in Grassroots Strategy Mini-MBA from Amphora Consulting, acquired in 2023.
