John Burchell

John Burchell is a seasoned professional in process control and optimisation, currently serving as the Business Unit Manager for Process Control and Optimisation at Sibanye-Stillwater since December 2019. Previous roles include Specialist in Advanced Process Control within the SA PGM Division at Sibanye-Stillwater, and various engineering positions at Lonmin Plc, where responsibilities included dynamic modelling and model predictive control. John’s early career features advanced process control engineering at Stone Three Venture Technology, focusing on bespoke machine vision systems for mineral processing, and research work at Stellenbosch University, exploring machine learning applications in the field. John holds a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Extractive Metallurgy, both from Stellenbosch University.
