João Amaro

João Amaro has a diverse work experience spanning across various companies and roles. João is currently working as the Data Innovation Team Lead at SIBS since January 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of MLOps Engineer at BCA Europe from November to December 2022. From May 2021 to November 2022, João worked as a Senior Data Scientist at BI4ALL, and before that, as a Data Scientist from October 2019 to May 2021. João also worked as an Embedded Systems Engineer at Spin.Works from October 2018 to October 2019. Before that, João Amaro was a Programming Analyst at OGMA-Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal, SA from March 2017 to August 2018. João spent 1 1/2 years as a PhD student at the Instituto de Telecomunicações from November 2015 to February 2017, where they focused on developing novel imaging techniques for their thesis. In addition, João worked as a full-time researcher at the Universidade de Coimbra from September 2013 to August 2015, contributing to the CATARATA project.

João Amaro holds an extensive educational background in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. João obtained a Licentiate degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Universidade de Coimbra, where they studied from 2008 to 2011. João then pursued a Master's degree with a specialization in Telecommunications in the same field at the same university from 2011 to 2013. Following this, João Amaro continued their academic journey and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engenharia Electrotécnica e de Computadores at the Universidade de Coimbra, between 2015 and 2018.

In addition to their formal education, João Amaro has attained multiple certifications. João obtained the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate certification in November 2019. In May 2020, they acquired the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate certification. Furthermore, in March 2021, they obtained the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals and Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals certifications. João'scertifications extend beyond Microsoft as they also hold Redis certifications, specifically the Redis | RU101 Certificate and Redis | RU202 Certificate, both obtained in May 2022. These certifications showcase João Amaro's expertise and commitment to expanding their knowledge and skills in various domains, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
