Armin Hornung

Armin Hornung is an accomplished professional in the field of robotics, currently serving as the Head of 3D Perception Software and Algorithm Design at SICK since July 2014. In this role, Armin leads teams and oversees product development focused on 3D vision and safety algorithms for human-robot collaboration. Prior to this, experience includes a position as a Software Development Engineer at SICK, and a doctoral researcher at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau, where Armin specialized in humanoid robot navigation, including 3D mapping and motion planning. An internship at Willow Garage provided additional research experience. Armin holds a PhD in Robotics from The University of Freiburg and has completed studies as a visiting graduate student in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, along with a Diplom in Computer Science from The University of Freiburg.
