Dr. YK Gupta has a long and distinguished career in the medical field, beginning in 1977 as a Senior Research Fellow (CSIR) in the Department of Pharmacology at King George's Medical University. In 1980, they became a Senior Resident in the Department of Pharmacology at Maulana Azad Medical College. In 1983, they returned to King George's Medical University as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Associate Professor and then Additional Professor in the Department of Pharmacology. From 2005 to 2018, Dr. Gupta served as Academic Dean and Professor & Head of the Department of Pharmacology at AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi). During this time, they also served as Director at CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow from 2003-2005. From 2018-2020, Dr. Gupta was President at AIIMS Jammu and from 2018-2021, they were Chief Medical Advisor at SiCureMi Healthcare Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Principal Advisor (Projects) at TRANSLATIONAL HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE. Dr. YK is currently serving as President at AIIMS Bhopal and Chief Medical Advisor at Second Opinions.
Dr. YK Gupta obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from King George's Medical University between 1969 and 1974. Dr. YK also holds certifications from the Academy of Environmental Biology (FAEB), Biotech Research Society (FBRS), Indian Academy of Neurosciences (FIAN), Indian Pharmacological Society (FIPS), Society of Toxicology (FST), National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) (FAMS), University of Manitoba (FIACS), and National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad (FNASc).
