April Backus

April Backus currently serves as the Director of Academic Programs and Events and has held various leadership positions at Siena College since June 2012, including Associate Director of the Siena College Research Institute and Associate Director of Academic Community Engagement. Backus supervises staff, manages a $2 million annual budget, and oversees the Bonner Program, focusing on recruitment, data collection, and national conference planning. Additionally, conflict coaching for staff and students, staff development, and training are critical responsibilities. Prior experience includes serving as Assistant Director of Academic Community Engagement and Coordinator of Quality Assurance and Youth Programs. April Backus holds an MS.Ed in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from The College of Saint Rose and a B.A. in Sociology from Siena University. Previous experience includes a role as a National Bonner Fellow at The Bonner Foundation.
