Gerry James

Deputy Campaign Director, Outdoors For All at Sierra Club

Gerry James is an experienced outdoor and environmental advocate currently serving as the Deputy Campaign Director for the Outdoors For All campaign at the Sierra Club since June 2023. As the Founder of the Explore Kentucky Initiative since October 2016, Gerry has focused on enhancing outdoor accessibility and environmental literacy in Kentucky. Additional roles include Principal at the Outdoor Recreation Design Lab, Freelance Journalist with Gerry Seavo Media, and a Recreation Economies for Rural Communities Consultant for the US Environmental Protection Agency from August 2021 to August 2023. Gerry also led the Together Outdoors Coalition at the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable and was a founding member of the Kentucky Rural Urban Exchange. Previous experience includes strategic roles in branding and donor outreach, supported by a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Campbellsville University obtained in 2013.
