Matt Cervantes has extensive work experience in the health and advocacy sectors. Matt started their career as an Outreach Specialist at the Yolo County Department of Health, where they recruited and trained youth to participate in anti-tobacco initiatives. Matt then worked as a Youth Program Manager at the American Cancer Society, educating elected officials on policies related to cancer prevention and cessation. Matt also served as a Youth Program Coordinator at the California Youth Advocacy Network, organizing conferences and collaborating with tobacco control agencies. Matt later joined the American Heart Association as a Grassroots Director, coordinating grassroots campaigns and advocacy events. Most recently, Matt worked at the Sierra Health Foundation, holding positions such as Senior Program Officer and Associate Director of Health Programs, where they played a key role in grantmaking, leadership development, and organizational capacity building initiatives.
Matt Cervantes obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in General Education from Shasta College, where they studied from 1994 to 1997. Matt then pursued their education at California State University-Sacramento, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Matt'sstudies at the university lasted from 1997 to 2000.
