Andrew Russo has a diverse work experience, starting in 1993 as a Lab Technician at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Andrew then worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where they conducted research on the nsP2 protease of the Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus and FK506-binding protein (FKBP12). Andrew also gained experience in expressing and purifying proteins.
In 2007, Russo joined Molecular Logix as a Senior Research Scientist, where they developed an improved ELISA protocol and produced milligram quantities of pan-HER ligand mutants.
In 2010, they joined Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute as an Associate Scientist/Study Director, focusing on pre-clinical testing of medical countermeasures for infectious diseases. Andrew directed teams and successfully completed multi-million dollar antiviral drug and vaccine efficacy programs.
Currently, Russo is working at SIGA Technologies since 2016. Andrew started as a Group Leader in Poxvirus Research and later became the Associate Director of Animal Studies. Additional information on their current role is not provided.
Andrew Russo's education history begins in 1981 when they received their HS Diploma from Gloucester Catholic High School. From 1985 to 1990, they attended Rutgers University - Camden, where they obtained a BA degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Andrew then pursued further education at the same institution, earning an MS degree in Biology from 1990 to 1993. Finally, Andrew obtained their PhD in Biology from The Johns Hopkins University, where they studied from 1993 until 2000.
