Ana Luisa TORIBIO has a wealth of experience in the field of genetics. Ana Luisa began their career in 2000 as an Analyst in the Quality Control Laboratory of Microbiology at the Commission for Quality Control of Medicines (CCCM). In 2002, they were appointed as an Academic Assistant of the Dean of the School of Chemistry in the Education Area at Universidad de la República. Ana Luisa also held a Research Fellowship at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) during the same year. From 2004 to 2012, they worked at the Wellcome Sanger Institute as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and a Research Assistant and PhD student. In 2012, they joined the European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI as a Scientific Bio Curator - Genomic Databases. In 2016, they became an Undergraduate and Postgraduate students College Fellow and Tutor at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge. Most recently, in 2019, they were appointed as the Chief Geneticist and Chief Scientist at SiGenex Inc, a start-up in development stage with the mission of helping people live longer, live happier and live healthier by enabling personalized interventions through accessible and affordable diagnostics.

Ana Luisa Toribio completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Instituto Europeo de Posgrado - IEP between 2016 and 2018, with a major in Business Administration and Management, General. Ana Luisa also holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge, as well as an MSc in Biotechnology and a Licenced in Chemistry from Universidad de la República. Additionally, they have a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry from Universidad de la República.
