Nelis van den Berg

Associate Executive Director for Central-West Zone at SIL International

Nelis is the Associate Executive Director for the Central-West Zone (Eurasia, Africa and the Americas) and a citizen of the Netherlands. He holds a Certificate in Theological Training, and an MA in Interdisciplinary ‘Pedagogiek” (Educational Psychology). Previously he was a member of the Cameroon Bible Translation and Literacy Board, a Board member of Campus Crusade Cameroon, SIL Cameroon liaison with the National Association of Language Committees, SIL Cameroon Director of Language Programs, General Director of SIL Cameroon and Area Director for Francophone Africa.

Nelis is passionate about the multi-dimensional aspects of SIL’s mission and vision: the combination of the spiritual dimension with practical development and literacy (his original expertise). He finds great motivation in SIL’s commitment to every language group in the world and its vision to see each of those as being valuable. Nelis has deep experience in the grassroots work of the organization and brings a visionary approach to the team. He loves contributing to the integration of the different aspects of SIL’s work.
