Alex Harkness

Alex Harkness (Elrod) is an accomplished Creative Director and Lead Designer at SILAC Insurance Company since August 2018, bringing extensive experience from various roles in the design and photography fields. As the Owner and Head Photographer & Designer at Darkness Design, established in 1999, Alex has excelled in custom branding, event photography, and graphic design. Previous positions include Creative Director & Chief Graphic Designer at Ideal Producers Group, where robust marketing programs were developed for the insurance sector, and a photographer role at Shotbee Photography, capturing notable events including the Barack Obama Presidential Campaign. Additional experience encompasses high-level graphic design for Smith Kramer, Inc. and contract photography for the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. Alex also contributed to The New York Times with a published essay. A graduate of Drake University with a Bachelor's degree in Magazine Design and Photography, Alex combines artistic talent with strategic marketing insights across diverse projects.
