Alex Bird

Alex Bird is a seasoned professional in the field of molecular genetics and drug discovery, currently serving as a Project Leader at Silence Therapeutics plc since October 2021. Prior to this role, Alex was a Research Group Leader at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany from September 2012 to October 2021, where responsibilities included leading an independent research group focused on various advanced techniques such as mammalian cell culture and genome editing. Earlier experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the MPI-CBG from July 2004 to September 2012, concentrating on kinase regulation and mentoring students. Academic credentials include a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Michigan.
