Katherine Franz

Research Assistant at Silent Spring Institute

Katherine Franz has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Katherine began their career as a Research Assistant at Silent Spring Institute in 2023. Prior to that, they served as an Outreach Coordinator at the History Museum of Hood River County as part of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) Northwest from August 2021 to July 2022.

In 2019, Katherine worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Jones Lab at the University of Notre Dame - College of Science. Katherine also had a Winter Internship at the Center for Civic Innovation at Notre Dame in 2021, where they worked on the Project dataMichiana.

During their time at Laumeier Sculpture Park in 2020, Katherine held a position as a Curatorial Intern. Before that, they gained valuable field experience through a Practicum in Field Environmental Biology at the University of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center in 2019.

In 2018, Katherine was involved in Project Ricardo: Clean Water for Arcabuco as part of the Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD). Katherine also participated in the Student Pediatric Research Program at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where they worked in the Newland Lab.

Throughout their work experience, Katherine has demonstrated their adaptability and dedication to research and community outreach.

Katherine Franz completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences and Anthropology at the University of Notre Dame from 2017 to 2021.
