Daniel Armbrust co-founded Silicon Catalyst in 2014 and served as the initial CEO and board director. Silicon Catalyst is an incubator that supports semiconductor start-ups. Daniel played a key role in building a portfolio of over 60 companies and establishing partnerships with over 50 industry partners.
In 2015, Armbrust became a board observer and advisor for Ayar Labs. In 2019, they became the board chairman for Irresistable Materials and joined as an investor for Silicon Catalyst Angels.
In 2021, Armbrust took on the role of board director for Halo Industries, Inc. and Aligned Carbon. Daniel also served as an affiliate for Berkeley Lab, where they partnered with industry, academia, and government agencies to develop strategies and initiate technology innovation programs.
In 2022, Armbrust became the board chairman for Salience Labs and a board director for Exokeryx.
Prior to these roles, Armbrust served as the CEO and later the board chairman for PVMC, an industry consortium focused on improving manufacturing costs for the Solar Photovoltaic industry. Daniel oversaw initiatives such as recruiting member companies, establishing a technology roadmap, and building a manufacturing scale user facility.
Daniel Armbrust earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Ceramic Sciences and Engineering from Penn State University, where they studied from 1979 to 1983. Daniel later pursued their Master of Science (MS) in Manufacturing Systems at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1992 to 1994.
