Mike Mulligan

Principal Design Engineer at Silicon Labs

Mike Mulligan has extensive work experience in the field of circuit design and engineering. Mike started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Stanford University in 2003 and worked there until 2006. Mike then worked as a Staff Circuit Design Engineer at National Semiconductor Corp. for a year before joining Akros Silicon Inc. as a Senior Analog Designer in 2007. In 2010, they became a Principal Circuit Design Engineer at Fairchild (now part of ON Semiconductor).

In 2013, Mike joined Silicon Labs as a Staff Design Engineer and heavily revised the design of a dc-dc converter, among other responsibilities. Mike then worked as a Senior Staff Design Engineer, where they led the design of an autonomous switching multi-mode buck/boost converter. In 2019, they transitioned to the role of Design Engineering Manager and later became a Principal Design Engineer at Silicon Labs, where they are currently employed.

Outside of their work at Silicon Labs, Mike has also contributed to the field through roles such as being a member of the Technical Programming Committee at the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference since 2015 and serving as the SSCS Representative to the IoT Technical Community at IEEE since 2022.

Mike Mulligan completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in the years 1996 to 2000. Mike then pursued further education at Stanford University and earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from 2001 to 2003. Mike continued their academic journey at Stanford and completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from 2003 to 2006.
