Rui Sampaio

Rui Sampaio began their work experience in 2012 as a Graduate Research Intern at INESC-MN, where they focused on initial research for an ultra-low power consumption microelectromechanical (MEM) loudspeaker for hearing aids applications. Rui then continued their research at INESC-ID in 2014, where they worked on developing a microelectromechanical (MEM) loudspeaker using digital actuation. In 2014, they also worked as a Graduate Research Intern at Instituto de Telecomunicações (Physics of Information Group), conducting research on tunneling effects in a quantum point contact device.

In 2015, Rui joined Aalto University School of Science and Technology as a Graduate Research Intern, where they conducted research on topics such as quantum dot charging and discharging and transmission in a one-dimensional electron gas. Rui also worked as a Doctoral Candidate at Aalto University from 2015 to 2019.

In 2019, Rui joined causaLens as a Data Scientist, working on developing causal AI. Rui later became a Research Scientist at the same company, focusing on building their flagship product that goes beyond traditional machine learning. In 2021, Rui joined Silo AI as an AI Scientist, solving challenges in machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. Rui is currently in the role of Senior AI Scientist at Silo AI.

Rui Sampaio's education history begins in 2007 when they attended Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics in 2010. Rui then pursued further studies and completed a Master's degree in Bioengineering and Nanosystems from Instituto Superior Técnico between 2011 and 2014. Rui Sampaio's academic journey culminated in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Quantum Thermodynamics from Aalto University, which they obtained in 2019. Apart from their formal education, Rui Sampaio also obtained several certifications, including "Joining Data in PostgreSQL" and "SQL for Data Science" from DataCamp in August 2018. Additionally, they completed the "Data Scientist with Python Track" and "Machine Learning for Finance in Python Course" from DataCamp in 2018, but the exact months and years of completion are unknown.
