Jo Stewart-Rattray started their work experience in 2004 as the President of the Adelaide Chapter for ISACA. They held various roles within ISACA, including Chair, COBIT Working Group, Chair, Women's Leadership Advisory Council, Director, International Board of Directors, International Vice President, and more. In 2012, they joined BRM Advisory as the Director of Technology & Security Assurance. In 2014, they became the Chapter President for AIIM International and later served as the Immediate Past President. From 2016 to 2018, they were the General Manager, Group IT at Journey Beyond. In 2017, they worked as a Civil Society Delegate for the Australian Government Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet, Office for Women. In 2018, they became the Vice President of the National Rural Women's Coalition. They have also been involved with ACS - The Professional Association for Australia's ICT sector and held roles such as Member, National Congress, Vice Chair, Branch Executive, and Chair, Branch Executive Committee. In 2019, they took on the role of Chief Security Officer at Silver Chain Group. They have also been a member of ISACA, serving as a Member, Information Security Advisory Board. Jo Stewart-Rattray has been recognized for their contributions in the ICT sector, being named the National ICT Professional of the Year at the iAwards in 2011.

Jo Stewart-Rattray completed their Master of Education Studies (Psychology) at the University of South Australia from 1998 to 2000. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Education (Adult) with a focus on Education and Psychology (Educational and Lifespan Developmental) from the University of Technology Sydney, studying from 1991 to 1996.

In terms of additional certifications, Jo Stewart-Rattray has obtained several qualifications in areas such as cybersecurity and information systems control. Notable certifications include Certified Professional (Cybersecurity) from the Australian Computer Society (obtained in May 2018), Certified In Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) from ISACA (obtained in August 2011), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA (obtained in June 2004), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA (obtained in October 2001). Jo is also a member of various professional organizations, including ASIS International and the Australian Computer Society.
