John Choi has a diverse work experience in various roles. John is currently working as a Research Engineer at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, where they are developing hybrid online AR/VR/XR experiences and interfaces for IoT Digital Twins. Previously, they worked as a Lead Graphics Engineer at Equmenopolis, Inc., where they created pipelines to generate photorealistic humanoid avatars and developed an augmented reality museum guide. John also worked as a Project Manager at Simcoach Games, where they managed the Simcoach Summer Games Apprenticeship Program focused on software development, game design, and social-emotional learning.

In addition, John served as a Game Development Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Summer Academy of Math and Science, teaching industry-standard skills and techniques for game development. John also founded and served as CEO of Choitek, a freelance consulting and contracting business. Furthermore, John worked as an Undergraduate Entrepreneur for Project Olympus PROBE at the Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper School of Business, building a startup company to teach robotics to middle and high school students.

John served as a CNC Router Monitor at the School of Art, operating an industrial CNC machine for student and faculty art projects. Additionally, John worked as a Robotics Research Assistant at The Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry, designing 3D-printable end effectors for a robot arm.

Earlier in their career, John gained experience as a Software Engineer Intern at TerraSim Inc., where they improved 2D rendering speed and refactored rendering code for improved maintainability.
