Manuel Pinuela, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Manuel is the Co-Founder and CEO of Cultivo since December 2019. Prior to that, they founded and served as the Managing Director of Coyo Partners starting in July 2018. Manuel also held the position of a Non-executive Director at SIME from January 2019. Manuel has also worked as a Venture Partner at Capital Invent from November 2019.

In October 2019, Manuel joined Arabesque as a Partner, a role they held until April 2020. Manuel had previously held multiple roles at Drayson Technologies Ltd, serving as an Advisor and Co-founder from December 2018 to December 2019; Chief Business Officer and Co-founder from March 2017 to November 2018; and Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder from August 2013 to March 2017. Manuel was also an Executive Board Member at Drayson Technologies and Sensyne Health from August 2013 to July 2018.

Manuel represented Mexico and the UK as a Delegate for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance from July 2014 to December 2014, where they developed and presented venture, entrepreneurship, and startup policies.

Manuel began their career at Imperial College London, where they worked as a PhD Student from October 2009 to August 2013. During their time there, they also served as a Research Assistant, working on wireless energy harvesting projects for defense and security applications. Manuel also worked briefly as a Research Assistant from January 2011 to June 2011.

Before their time at Imperial College London, Manuel worked as an Engineering Services Coordinator at the Washington Division of URS. In this role, they created an engineering design tool and database and provided consulting expertise to the Project Management team. Manuel also worked as a Project Engineer at Thermon, where they designed electrical heat tracing and control systems and managed client relationships in Latin America.

Manuel Pinuela obtained their BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México between 2002 and 2007. Following that, from 2009 to 2013, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Imperial College London. In 2010 and 2011, Manuel also engaged in fellowships in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Design at both Imperial College Business School and the Royal College of Art. In terms of additional certifications, they completed the Venture Capital Executive Program at UC Berkeley Executive Education in September 2020 and was recognized as one of MIT Innovators under 35 by MIT Technology Review in November 2017. It should be noted that no specific information is provided regarding their education at Escuela Moderna Americana.
