Andrew Petter

President Emeritus at Simon Fraser University

Andrew Petter has had a diverse and accomplished career. Andrew currently works as an Associate Counsel at Arvay Finlay, where they started in March 2021. Andrew also serves as the Board Chair at Innovate BC, a position they have held since March 2021.

Prior to these roles, Petter spent a significant amount of time at Simon Fraser University. Andrew served as the President and Vice Chancellor from September 2010 to August 2020, and currently holds the title of President Emeritus. During their time at SFU, they were also a Professor in the School of Public Policy from July 2010 to February 2022.

Before joining SFU, Petter was the Dean of Law at the University of Victoria from September 2001 to June 2008.

Andrew'searly career involved working in the Legislature of British Columbia as an MLA for Saanich South from October 1991 to May 2001.

Andrew Petter, CM, OBC, KC has a Master of Laws degree in Constitutional and Administrative Law from the University of Cambridge. Andrew also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Victoria.
