Brian Stewart

Brian Stewart is an accomplished information technology leader with extensive experience in higher education and operational management. Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer at Simon Fraser University since July 2022, Brian has also held significant roles at the University of Alberta, including Program Director for Service Excellence Transformation, where efforts focus on cost reduction and enhancing administrative performance. In previous positions, Brian provided strategic direction as Deputy CIO and Executive Program Director, leading initiatives such as the Campus Alberta Unified Services. Prior experience includes serving as Vice President IT and CIO at Athabasca University, where transformative IT solutions shifted the institution to online delivery, and various leadership roles at P W Group, where Brian was instrumental in operational strategy and product innovation. Brian holds multiple degrees, including an MA in Economics from University College Cork and an MBA from Athabasca University.
