Elicia Maine has a diverse and extensive work experience. Elicia served as the Associate Vice President of Knowledge Mobilization & Innovation at Simon Fraser University, where they championed engagement with communities, mobilization of impactful research, and translation of research into innovation. Elicia also held the role of Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, conducting research on innovation management and science-based ventures. Elicia was the Special Advisor on Innovation to the Vice-President Research at Simon Fraser University and the VanDusen Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Elicia founded and served as the Academic Director of the Invention to Innovation (i2I) program, designed to develop an entrepreneurial mindset in PhD scientists and engineers. Additionally, Elicia held positions such as Director on the Board of Directors at Innovate BC and the Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre. Elicia served as a Co-investigator at 4POINT0 and a Scientist Mentor & Co-Moderator for the Climate stream at the Creative Destruction Lab. Elicia also participated as a Jury and Mentor for the Women in Cleantech Challenge at MaRS Discovery District and served on the Board of Directors for New Ventures BC. Elicia was a Faculty member at the Centre for Policy Research on Science and Technology and a Mentor at IDEO.

Elicia Maine completed their education with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Materials Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Queen's University from 1988 to 1993. Elicia then pursued a Master of Science in Technology Policy with a focus on Materials Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1995 to 1997. Elicia continued their education at the University of Cambridge and obtained their PhD in Technology Management from 1997 to 2000. Prior to their higher education, they attended St James Junior High School in Guelph, but no degree information was provided for this institution.
