Mehryar Abbasi

Mehryar Abbasi is a highly skilled machine learning researcher with extensive experience in deep learning and computer vision. Currently affiliated with Simon Fraser University, Mehryar Abbasi is involved in the Laboratory for Robotic Vision, focusing on automating embryo analysis through deep-learning algorithms. Previous roles include a machine learning research internship at Autodesk, where system development for detailed scene graphs and predictive analytics for 3D designs took place, and a position as a machine learning engineer at Huawei Canada, concentrating on LLM deployment and optimization. Additional experience includes contributions at SFU Big Data Hub as an applied scientist in image-based localization and reconstruction, and as a research assistant at Sharif University of Technology with a focus on millimeter-wave imaging. Mehryar Abbasi holds a PhD in Engineering Science from Simon Fraser University, a Master’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University.
