Diptarka Hait

Associate Research Scientist

Diptarka Hait is an academic with a strong background in theoretical chemistry and extensive research experience. As a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley from October 2016 to May 2022, Diptarka focused on theoretical chemistry in pursuit of a PhD. Following this, Diptarka became a Stanford Science Fellow in the lab of Prof. Todd Martinez from July 2022 to June 2025. Currently, Diptarka serves as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University and an Associate Research Scientist at the Simons Foundation, starting in July 2025. Previous experience includes an undergraduate research role at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from October 2013 to June 2016, where Diptarka worked on various projects related to quantum dynamics and organic LED design, along with serving as a Teaching Assistant in Quantum Chemistry and a Graduate Student Instructor at UC Berkeley. Diptarka holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Theoretical Chemistry from UC Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics from MIT.
