Katie Leonard

Katie joined Simple Technology Solutions in the summer of 2020 and serves as the company’s Director of People Team & Culture. In this role, Katie works to create career on-ramps in Applied Machine Intelligence, Cloud, DevOps, and Software Development through STS’ Apprenticeship Program. Additionally, she leads People operations and recruiting efforts and works to ensure that the STS Team Member experience is meaningful, engaging, developmental, and fun.

Katie is passionate about communities. She is a social justice advocate who positively works to transform communities by creating economic opportunities for women and people of color. Throughout her career, she has worked at local levels addressing racial, social, and health disparities, typically in low-income, minority communities. Her primary focus has been on key factors such as economic re-investment and development, education, workforce opportunities, income, and housing.

Katie received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Florida. She later received her Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning, specializing in Health and the Built Environment. She then pursued a Master of Public Health degree from the University of South Florida where she specialized in Socio-Health Sciences. She also holds a certificate in Community Real Estate Development from the University of South Florida.
