Jordan Wellington has worked in various roles in the cannabis industry since 2013. From 2013-2014, they were a Senior Regulatory Analyst for the Colorado Department of Revenue's Marijuana Enforcement Division, where they were the sole policy analyst for the development of the historic, first-in-the-world regulations governing legalized adult-use marijuana. Jordan also served as a Legislative Aide to the House Majority Office, where they advised representatives and senators on the implementation of Amendment 64. From 2014-2016, they were Of Counsel at Vicente Sederberg LLP, where they built the firm's Compliance Department and represented local governments adopting cannabis ordinances. Jordan was also a Partner at VS Strategies, where they advised state and local industry groups and individual cannabis businesses in Colorado, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Nevada. From 2016-present, they have been Co-Founder/Advisor at Simplifya, as well as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law, where they teach a small workshop class called "Regulating Cannabis". Prior to working in the cannabis industry, they worked as a Research Analyst for Special Counsel assigned to Promontory Financial Group and an Intern for House Majority Project in 2012, and as an Associate Counsel for the New Jersey Office of Legislative Services and a Legislative Intern for Assemblymember Jonathan Bing in the New York State Assembly in 2009.
Jordan Wellington attended Brooklyn Law School from 2006-2009, where they received their J.D. degree. Prior to that, they attended the University of Maryland from 1998-2002, where they obtained a B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
