Kyong J. Shim

Kyong J. Shim is an Associate Professor (Practice) at Singapore Management University since January 2012, focusing on Data Analytics, including social network analysis, natural language processing, machine learning, and cloud computing, while also leading XR research and development. As a co-founder of Typeless, initiated in February 2023, Kyong aims to enhance experiences with AI. Research activities date back to 2008 at the Virtual Worlds Observatory, where work includes multi-university collaboration on MMOGs and online communities. Between 2016 and 2018, led the Data Science Lab, a collaboration between DHL and SMU, dedicated to innovative supply chain management solutions. Prior experience includes roles at Ninja Metrics, Thomson Reuters, and IBM, contributing to cloud-based analytics, data warehousing, and health information infrastructure. Kyong holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Computer Science from Louisiana State University, with ongoing education at the MAGES Institute.
