Lim Ming Yan

Trustee at Singapore Management University

Mr Lim Ming Yan is the Chairman of Workforce Singapore, a statutory board set up under the Ministry of Manpower to promote the development, competitiveness, inclusiveness and employability of all levels of the workforce. He is also a member of Singapore’s Future Economy Council and Co-Chairman of its Built Environment Sub-Committee; a board member of Business China and a Council Member of Singapore Business Federation. He sits on the board of Singapore Press Holdings(T39:SP), Central China Real Estate (832:HK) and DLF Cyber City Developers Limited.

Ming Yan was previously with CapitaLand Limited for 22 years till 2018. He served as CapitaLand’s President and Group CEO from 2013 to 2018 and grew the company’s global real estate portfolio to a size of S$100 billion. He was instrumental in firmly establishing the company’s significant and successful presence in China, and building its Raffles City portfolio, large scale iconic prime mixed-use assets, in major cities in China. From 2010 to 2018, under his leadership, CapitaLand’s Ascott Group not only extended its global coverage to the US, Africa and South America, but also grew four times to more than 100,000 serviced residence units across the world. Ascott is now recognised globally as the leader in the serviced residence business.

Ming Yan obtained a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1985. He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2002. In July 2015, he was conferred an honourary doctorate by the University of Birmingham.
