Gorka Orive's work experience includes various roles and positions at different companies and institutions. Gorka is currently a Full Professor at UPV/EHU since February 2023 and Chief Scientific Officer at Cybosense since October 2023. Gorka has also worked at UPV as an Associate Professor of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy, and a PhD student from 2000 to the present. In addition, Gorka Orive has held the position of Adjunct Principal Investigator at SERI (Singapore) since August 2018 and was a Scientific Advisor at the Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine of BTI from September 2004 onwards. Gorka is also the founder of Geroa Diagnostics since July 2015, a biotechnological company focused on improving the health and care of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Finally, Gorka Orive has been an Investigador CIBER BBN at CIBER BBN since July 2006.
Gorka Orive completed their Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy at the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea from 1994 to 1999. Gorka then pursued their Grade in Pharmacy at the same institution from 1999 to 2000. Finally, they obtained their PhD in Pharmacy from the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea from 2000 to 2003.

Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) is the designated national centre within the public sector healthcare network, and spearheads and coordinates the provision of specialised ophthalmological services with emphasis on quality education and research. Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) is the national research institute for ophthalmic and vision research in Singapore.
