Tan Teng Hooi

Dean at SINGAPORE UNIVERSITY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

Associate Professor Tang Teng Hooi is the Dean of the School of Science and Technology (SST) at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). He was formerly the Head of SUSS' Bachelor of Building and Project Management (BBPM) Programme and Head of SUSS' Master of Built Environment (MBE-SPE) Programme.

Prior to joining SUSS, he had spent close to a decade practising engineering in the industry and over 20 years in the Nanyang Technological University teaching, researching and serving as Vice-Dean (Admin) and Acting Head in the Department of Construction Technology and Management.

Associate Professor Tan is a Chartered Engineer and a registered Professional Engineer (Civil). He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (Singapore), the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), the Asia-Pacific Institute of Experts and the Singapore Society of Project Manager. He obtained B.Eng Honours (Civil Eng. 1st Class) from the University of Singapore in 1980, M.Sc (Civil Eng.) from the National University of Singapore in 1984 and PhD (Civil Eng.) from the Nanyang Technological University in 1998.

Associate Professor Tan currently serves on the Strata Titles Board, the Singapore Engineering Accreditation Board, Inquiry Panel under Legal Profession Act, Appeals Board (Land Acquisition), the LTA Compensation Board and Technical Committee on Building Structure and Sub-structure of Spring Singapore. He had also previously served on the Professional Engineers Board, the Disciplinary Panel of the Council for Estate Agencies and Council of the Institution of Engineers.
