Martin Caldarola

Application Scientist at Single Quantum

Martin Caldarola has a strong background in quantum nanoscience and single-molecule biophysics. Martin recently worked as an Application Scientist at Single Quantum, starting in December 2020. Prior to that, Martin served as a Kavli Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Delft from July 2018 to July 2020. During their time at the institute, they developed optical setups for single-molecule biophysics experiments and designed and built a homemade optical microscope. Martin also implemented photothermal circular dichroism spectroscopy and designed python software for instrumentation and automation. Additionally, Martin worked as a Postdoc at the Leiden Institute of Physics, Leiden University from June 2015 to June 2018. In this role, they focused on fluorescence enhancement of single molecules and enhancement of nonlinear processes at the nanoscale. Martin designed and built a confocal microscope for single-molecule fluorescence enhancement and studied electrochemistry at the single-molecule level with optical readout. Overall, Martin Caldarola has extensive experience in experimental research and instrumentation within the field of quantum nanoscience.

Martin Caldarola began their education in 2005 at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, where they completed their Licenciado degree in Physics in 2010. Martin then pursued further education at the University of Buenos Aires, earning their Dr degree in Physics from 2010 to 2015.
