Annie Handmer, PhD, currently serves as IPC Co-Chair for the International Astronautical Federation, overseeing the International Programming Committee for the upcoming International Astronautical Congress in Milan (2024) and Sydney (2025). In addition, Annie holds the position of Satellite Policy and Industry Engagement Manager at Optus, where the focus is on emerging technology capabilities and collaboration with academia and the start-up industry. As an Honorary Affiliate and Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Annie engages in postdoctoral research and teaching within the School of History and Philosophy of Science. Previous roles include Product Manager at HEO Robotics, strategic foresight support for the Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW), and various policy-related positions within government departments. Annie’s academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Science Studies from the University of Sydney, complemented by degrees in History and Philosophy of Science and Philosophy. Additional professional development includes satellite communications training and systems engineering courses.
