Joan Vlayen

Joan Vlayen currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Sint-Trudo Ziekenhuis since August 2017 and has been the owner of ME-TA, focusing on systematic reviews and meta-analyses in health care since January 2010. Joan has a diverse background in health care, having held roles such as Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at Medisch Huis Buizingen from September 2013 to October 2017, and Expert Physician at KCE - Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre from February 2006 to July 2017. Additional contributions include editorial work for Tijdschrift voor Geneeskunde, and board membership at the Guidelines International Network. Joan has extensive experience in guideline and indicator development, economic evaluations, and clinical training, complemented by a Doctor of Medicine degree in Endocrinology from KU Leuven and a degree in hospital policy and management.
