Barbara Shepard has extensive experience in various roles, including serving as a Sister Cities International Board of Directors member, State Coordinator for North Carolina, State Representative for North Carolina, President of the Sister Cities Association of Cary, and on the Koka Booth Amphitheatre Advisory Committee. With a background in consulting at IBM Global Business Services and Xerox, Barbara brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their volunteer and professional roles. Barbara is dedicated to fostering international understanding and promoting cultural exchange through their work with various organizations.

Eisenhower in 1956, Sister Cities International is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit which serves as the national membership organization for individual sister cities, counties, and states across the U.S. This network unites tens of thousands of citizen diplomats and volunteers in 570 member communities with over 2,300 partnerships in 150 countries on six continents.
